As the world becomes more ecologically aware, the need for adequate insulation in construction projects has become increasingly more pressing. The thermal insulation of modern buildings requires the use of flexible materials that are light in weight, ecologically friendly and technically advanced.

Not only are closed cell materials required to insulate the walls but they are also used in the following applications:

  • Joints
  • Roofing sheets
  • Expansion joints
  • Seals for windows and doors
  • Abutment seals
  • Acoustic seals
  • Caravan and mobile home manufacturing

Closed cell insulating material is used in broad range of applications. Take a look at our Construction page for more information.

Acoustic reduction and thermal insulation

Foam insulation for homes creates the ideal alternative to the more traditional wool. The porous nature of wool and other similar materials allows the escape of heat and noise. These traditional forms of insulation tend to have a large amount of waste in comparison to the more modern materials – it is common for energy costs to be higher. That’s not the only benefit, using closed cell insulation will:

  • Improve resistance to the growth of mould and damp
  • Be impervious to adverse weather conditions
  • Provide additional buoyancy qualities that provide further benefits in applications such as canal boats, barges and yachts

Which closed cell material should I use?

Alanto offers a range of materials that are manufactured to excel in a range of environments and for specific purposes. Here’s an example of some of the closed cell materials that we supply…

EPDM
From high temperature EPDM sponge Rubber to eco EPDM sponge Rubber, Alanto offers a range of EPDM closed cell materials that provide qualities such as flame resistance, self-extinguishing properties and sulphur and plasticizer-free solutions.

Polyethylene
As with all materials supplied by Alanto, closed cell PE Foams have been tested to strict quality standards. Variables such as density, tensile strength, thermal conductivity and flammability are tested to ensure that the closed cell product is of high quality.
